Extractor hood filter systems

Extractor bonnets are an important component in the kitchen for removing cooking vapours and odours and thus enabling a pleasant cooking experience. To fulfil this task effectively, filter systems are an essential part of extractor bonnets. There are different types of filter systems, such as metal grease filters, activated charcoal filters and plasma filters. Metal grease filters are the most common and consist of a metal mesh that filters grease and other particles from the air. Activated charcoal filters absorb odours and other pollutants, while plasma filters ionise and thus remove particles from the air. Different filter systems can be selected for cooker bonnets depending on requirements and preferences.

Grease filters

Grease filters are usually metal filters. Their task is to filter the grease from the vapour that is released during cooking. Different substances are released during the cooking process. Depending on the food being cooked or fried, considerable amounts of fat and oil can rise up. To prevent the cooker bonnet from being damaged by the deposits of oil and grease in the bonnet, the grease filter is the first point of contact for the extracted vapour. These collect directly in the filter itself, which is why the grease filter becomes clogged over a longer period of use. You can therefore significantly increase the service life of the grease filter by cleaning it regularly. If you clean the filter every eight to ten weeks or so, you will contribute to a longer service life for your filter and your cooker bonnet. If this wearing part no longer has the desired effect, it should be replaced promptly.

You can usually change it easily and without any problems without the help of a specialist. In most systems, you can replace the grease filter in just a few simple steps. First and foremost, you need a filter that matches the model of your extractor bonnet. Depending on the design of your cooker bonnet, there may also be two built-in grease filters in the system. Before changing and completing your order, you should find out how many spare parts you will need to replace your filter system. It is also important that you order the right filter, as otherwise the functionality of your extractor bonnet will be limited and the grease filter will not have the desired effect. You should leave each extractor bonnet running for a short period after use so that odour molecules can continue to be broken down.
